The charging booth is a facility provided by Mobile service providers to their clients in regions where the a GSM site has been installed and commercial power to re-charge mobile phone batteries is not readily available. The charging booth is powered from an isolated outlet from the GSM power and does not interfere with the GSM equipment at all. The charging booth has a current sensor that allows only the number of phones intended to be charged at any one time. If the current is exceeded (e.g. member of the public connects a load heavier than a mobile phone to the socket outlet) the power to the socket outlet is disconnected. The power reconnects after a time adjustable by qualified technicians.
The charging booth has been a major hit for Mobile service providers interested in Community Social Responsibility. It has created very satisfied customer in regions without commercial power connections.
